History

Surrey Hire & Sales Ltd, previously known as Ewell Plant Hire was established in 1979. The business was started at the premises and by the owner of Georgian Scaffolding Services. From its beginning Surrey Hire built its business serving the local community and builders in and around the Ewell area.

In February 2004 there was a management buy-out of Surrey Hire & Sales Ltd, by the current owners Stephen Dormer and Marc Prince. Steve Dormer joined the company in 1989 working in the yard. He continued to progress with the company, becoming Hire Manager and in 2001 promoted to Director. Marc Prince joined the business with Steve at the time of the buy-out. Since leaving school Marc had always worked in the Construction Industry as a Quantity Surveyor.

Since the management buy-out the company has grown rapidly with much capital investment in new equipment.

This expansion lead to the opening of the second depot in Twickenham in December 2007. Surrey Hire continues to provide quality equipment and service and looks forward to continual growth in the hire industry.
